When Alexis Sanchez was announced as United’s new signing back in January, fans could hardly contain their excitement.
A quick, creative player who had scored 30 goals for Arsenal in his previous season, Sanchez appeared to be the answer to United’s prayers.
Fast-forward to October 2018 and Sanchez has arguably been United’s greatest sin.
The Chilean is clearly struggling at United, and with each appearance many fans are growing more frustrated as he proves to be ineffective up front.
Mourinho has given the 29-year-old numerous chances, which some would argue he was not deserving of, and Sanchez is still unable to produce the level of performance that fans expect on a regular basis.
Last season exceptions were made, with many assuming that the Chilean simply needed to settle into his new life in Manchester, and with an impressive pre-season tour many thought that was the reason as to why Sanchez did not make much of an impact last season.

Sanchez experienced a successful pre-season tour.
This year was the forward’s first summer break in five years, giving him the chance to return to United’s pre-season tour rested and in good shape.
It was a chance for Sanchez to have another attempt at a first impression, which he grasped with both hands.
The former Barcelona player scored goals against the likes of AC Milan and Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup and even earned man of the match during United’s pre-season tour in the USA.

Many fans hoped that Sanchez was finally finding his feet at his new club, however, across the pond back in Manchester, the confidence and ability that Alexis displayed went out of the window as he became a shadow of the player we saw in the summer.
With the players still failing to impress at Old Trafford, a recent RedArmyBet poll asked fans the following:
Despite his goal against Newcastle, there are still lots of unanswered questions about Alexis Sanchez. Should United have signed him? 🤔🔴 #MUFC #Sanchez #United

Fans are clearly split over Sanchez, and some are calling for Martial to be given a bigger chance than Alexis.
The Frenchman has created a lot more chances than the Chilean when given the opportunity, but rather than be cast aside like Martial was last season, should the manager be giving Sanchez regular starts after his Newcastle goal in order build some much needed confidence?
Almost half of the fans do still have belief in the forward, however if his performances fail to improve, could the Chilean be departing from Old Trafford a lot sooner than we anticipated?
